AT Project, Sea of Menorca

The AT Project is a beach house located on the island of Menorca. Spanning 450 square meters, it adapts to the rugged topography of the site by extending over three stories, designed to allow views of the sea from most areas of the house.
A vacation home designed for tranquility and a connection with an unparalleled setting.
A vacation home built with CLT
The owners, a family with three children who live in Madrid most of the year, were looking for a second home where the spectacular ocean views would be the main attraction. Given the limited local availability of many building materials on the island and the difficulties this entailed, the decision was made to work with wood, with its CLT structure rising like a stilt house above the ground. The concrete needed for the foundation was textured with wood on its visible surfaces to harmonize with the warmth of the overall design.
The result is a cozy and sustainable home that had a lower environmental impact.
A double kitchen design
Outside, various spaces were created to enjoy the surroundings, with reading areas and terraces on different levels.
The outdoor kitchen takes center stage, extending from the main kitchen inside, and is sheltered beneath a handcrafted pergola made of natural fibers. It’s an outdoor gathering space that connects directly to an infinity pool that “floats” above the ocean horizon.

The beach house to share the summer
The interior spaces were specially designed to be enjoyed and shared with loved ones, adapting to the family’s routines and needs. To this end, the bedrooms and bathrooms face the sea, offering stunning views.
The living room is divided into two areas with different levels of privacy, distinguished by a change in floor level and a modern fireplace with custom-designed wood-storage compartments that serve as steps with a contemporary design.
To delight the little ones, a fun children’s bedroom with custom-built bunk beds was built, designed to accommodate six guest children.

Coherence and consonance with the environment
On the exterior of this beach house, the stone masonry walls seek to resemble the characteristic agricultural terraces. In its interior space, the continuous finish in earth tones of the floors brings simplicity, continuity and fluidity to the whole. In addition, a high level of functionality was prioritized in the distribution and interior design to enjoy the spaces with family and friends.
Large windows were opened, seeking carpentry of maximum openness and minimum profiling to ensure the highest possible degree of vision. We designed linked spaces with a great visual range and tried to break with the limits inside/outside. In the case of the main entrance façade, a more closed and private concept was sought, protecting the area from outside view and ensuring privacy.
