Swimming Pools: Materials, Color, and Texture

Choosing the finishes for a pool can be a difficult decision due to the technical complexity and the wide variety of design options available. Materials, textures, and shades determine how the water reflects light, interacts with the landscape, and blends into the architecture.

With the arrival of summer, we wanted to put together a selection of pool designs from some of our projects, showcasing various solutions used in residential projects where the water takes on different hues depending on the materials chosen.

Clay finishes

If the goal is an authentic, natural, and sustainable result, terracotta pavers are the ideal choice for adding contrast and character to outdoor spaces. In the case of the following images, the terracotta tiles were salvaged from construction sites near the area where we were working, although new ceramic tiles with a similar finish are also available.

A Material Dialogue

Through a play on materials and volume, the following pool forms part of the home as an architectural extension of it, like an adjoining sculptural space.

More Than Just a Pool: Outdoor Routes

In the following design, the pool functions not merely as a utilitarian space, but as a sculptural path that connects interior and exterior spaces. Starting from the master bedroom, the design features various sections at different heights, creating a play of volumes that extends toward the garden area.
