Integral reform in Rosales

Comprehensive reform of a typical old house in Madrid of 180m², very compartmentalized and dark, the result of successive reforms. The main objective was to rearrange the space to give importance to the common areas and link them with the existing terrace. The original layout was inverted by temporarily cancelling the service entrance and locating the guest area (bedroom and bathroom) there. The public spaces -kitchen and living room- revolve around the terrace.

The facade was insulated with rock wool and the best orientation was sought for energy savings and thermal comfort during the winter months. For the flooring, natural wood was used with a special treatment for the entire surface (including bathrooms) that enlarges and unifies the space. In the master bedroom, we worked to make the architecture itself part of the decoration: the iron sheet embedded in the wall runs through and unites the space with the bathroom in a common language of iron that transforms from one side to the other.

To enjoy the outdoors for long periods of time and to buffer the noise of the city, a fountain was built on the terrace and prepared for outdoor cultivation.

The furnishing and decoration project of this renovation has counted, among others, with pieces designed by Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen for Molo represented by ÁBATON interiorismo in Spain.
