Refurbishment in Salamanca District
The protagonism of public spaces
The new distribution of the house has been designed to give all the prominence to the public spaces, such as the living room and kitchen, establishing a semi-hidden access to the private areas. The kitchen becomes the heart of the home, a space around which the other rooms are organized, adapting to the family’s lifestyle.
“We rearranged the spaces so that the lounge and common areas felt connected but maintained discreet access to the private areas.”
Contrasting colors and finishes
The design plays with contrasts in materials and finishes. The kitchen floors and ceilings have a glossy green finish, which stands out against the matte-finished walls. As the day progresses, the lighting changes the prominence of the elements, creating a play of light that transforms the environment, especially in the evening hours.
“The restoration of the oak floors gave a balance between modern and traditional, while respecting the original character of the house.”
Recovery of original elements
The original oak floors have been recovered, treated with matte varnish, contrasting with the bright and colorful finish of the kitchen. This contrast between the modern and the traditional provides a visual harmony that unifies the design of the entire house, respecting its history and personality.
Private spaces and design details
The bedrooms are little havens of tranquility, secluded from the hustle and bustle. The master bedroom features a steel and wood walk-in closet that acts as a headboard. In a secondary bedroom, the headboard includes a shower that integrates with a bench-bath, all in matte white, highlighting the balance between contemporary design and restored elements.
