Comprehensive Renovation in Santiago Bernabéu

  • Architecture, interior design and construction: ÁBATON

Opening spaces for natural light

ABATON’s main objective was to open up the compartmentalized spaces of the house so that natural light could reach every corner. The living-dining room, previously divided into three rooms, is now a spacious and unified environment. The main window was renovated, incorporating large glass panels and fine carpentry, so that not only more light would enter, but also the landscape of the street trees, integrating the exterior into the interior.

Modernity in every detail

Modernity is accentuated in the details: exposed concrete pillars, oak floors that add warmth, and light, right-angled shelving that organizes books and decorations between wooden drawers. These elements contribute to create a dynamic and harmonious visual ensemble.

A connection point

To allow light to cross the house, from courtyard to facade, a kitchen was designed in an open space, which can be closed with a large sliding door to block odors and noise when necessary. The complex geometry of the house was regularized with storage areas and shelving requested by the clients, such as the one that lets light into the entrance but hides it from the living room. Thus, the house projects an image of modernity and spaciousness.

Private spaces designed for comfort

In the private areas, a son’s room was created with a shared guest bathroom and a maid’s room, both connected to the backyard. At the other end of the house, the master bedroom was designed as an independent space. This has a multifunctional anteroom that serves as a reading nook, gym and dressing room, taking advantage of the angle of the bay window.
The master bedroom combines spaces for rest and work, with a small office area and a visually open bathroom to flood every corner with light. In a house that lives by its luminosity, nothing is hidden.
