A renovation in Madrid that enhances light, space and functionality

The integral reform of this apartment completely transformed the space, optimizing its distribution to recover its maximum potential and allowing natural light to flow freely into the interior of the house. With these premises in mind, the decision was made to create a clear distinction between the social areas and the private spaces of the house. Thus, the public area was designed around an open, spacious and generous foyer, which acts as the heart of the home, fluidly connecting the different rooms. This approach not only improved the functionality of the space, but also enhanced its luminosity and the feeling of spaciousness in every corner.

The duality of open spaces and privacy

Upon entering the house, the foyer gives way to a set of open spaces that connects the living room, dining room and kitchen, organized as successive openings that intertwine harmoniously. This arrangement creates a sense of spaciousness, allowing the view to flow uninterrupted through each room. In this way, natural light filters generously throughout the interior, filling every corner with clarity.

From this central point, the foyer, one enters the living room, a cozy space intended primarily for the family. Here, this room acts as a transition area between the public and private areas of the home, providing a sense of refuge and comfort. Through the living room you reach the master bedroom and two other bedrooms, located in the most reserved part of the house, guaranteeing rest and privacy. Each bedroom, carefully designed, has a large walk-in closet and a full bathroom, offering a perfect balance between functionality and comfort. The master bedroom is distinguished by its high ceilings adorned with exquisite floral moldings, providing an elegant and timeless atmosphere. Overall, the house is designed to welcome its inhabitants in an atmosphere of serenity, where light and space create a constant feeling of well-being and warmth.

Dialogue between history and modernity

The furnishings, carefully designed to measure, have been conceived so as not to reach the full height of the ceilings, allowing the majestic moldings to be fully appreciated from any corner of the bedroom. This detail adds a warm and cozy atmosphere. A sensation that is accentuated by the delicate recovery of the house’s original materials and its most identifying elements: the high, ornate ceilings, an imposing marble fireplace that has stood the test of time, and the woodwork that is still preserved in the doors and windows. One of the highlights of the design is the exposed brick wall, which reveals the old traditional construction system. The metal reinforcements in the openings not only serve a structural function, but have become a central element of the project. By exposing the original structure supported by robust sheet metal, these elements are not only visible, but also take on a prominence that enhances the authenticity of the space.

The moldings, original and full of history, have been carefully cleaned and restored in collaboration with a restorer from Madrid. To enhance them even more, the ceiling of the room has been painted in the same color, creating a subtle contrast with the vertical walls. The wooden windows, along with the doors, have been carefully restored, restoring their original splendor and reintegrating them into the project in a respectful and harmonious manner.
