Iconic design furniture

Have you ever stopped to think about the furniture that for one reason or another have made history? In decoration, as in the world of fashion, there are chairs, armchairs, tables and shelves whose design has dazzled half the world and that years after its creation and its jump to the big market are still talking about. Do you know what they are? Don’t worry, although you may not be familiar with their names, when you see an image of them you will know immediately what elements we are talking about.
LC4 Chaise Lounge
This chair will go down in history as one of the most comfortable recliners in the world. It was designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand with the main objective of placing man at the center of design, based on the idea that form and function should be aimed at providing relaxation by creating a perfect balance between geometric purity and ergonomics.

The LC4 Chaise Lounge chair became famous in 1965 with Cassina, a brand that continues to use it today as one of its star pieces. Le Corbusier even called it ‘the machine of rest’.
Barcelona chair by Mies Van der Rohe
Equally comfortable and modern is this Barcelona armchair by Mies Van der Rohe. It was designed in 1929 for the German pavilion at the Barcelona International Exposition. Its elegant form makes it worthy of an exhibition hall.
His partner and colleague Lilly Reich has recently been recognized for her participation in the design of this piece. Mies Van der Rohe formally granted the production rights for this chair in 1953 to Knoll. It is a folding and collapsible scissor chair that combines traditional and modern elements, which makes it never go out of fashion. Who wouldn’t like to have one at home?
Red and Blue Chair by designer Gerrit Rietveld
An icon on a decorative level is this other chair, the red and blue chair created by the designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1917. It is an

The beauty of the chair by designer Gerrit Rietveld has made it one of the most desired pieces in exhibitions dedicated to contemporary decoration. Today it is marketed by Cassina, a brand available at ABATON.
Wassily chair, Knoll brand, by designer Marcel Breuer
If there is a revolutionary chair design, it is the Wassily chair, designed by Marcel Breuer. Why did it cause such a sensation when it became publicly known? Simply because of the use of a variety of steel tubes that make up the chair and that, together with a curious manufacturing method, give the Knoll chair a singular value.
The Wassily chair is also known as model B3. Although it is made of steel tubing, the seat and back of the chair are made of leather, canvas or fabric.
What do you think of these iconic design pieces? Surely you have seen some of them throughout your life and you have even sat in one of these armchairs.
