We incorporate decorative accessories in the last phase of the decoration of our homes, and with them, we finish off each space. They are almost always minor pieces, but they bring us familiarity and color. Decorative accessories also allow us to change the look of our interiors with a relatively small investment that allows us to change relatively frequently.
We propose 5 decorative accessories that you can’t miss in your home:
In the image above, we can see a composition with different rugs, all from the Mélange collection designed by Sybilla for the firm Nani Marquina. Original, stimulating and vibrant, they bring the necessary color to the room.
Decorative textile accessories
Within our decoration projects we can find many samples of textile accessories. Rugs or cushions have an important final role in the decoration of the rooms, as they bring color and texture to the rest of the pieces, as well as warmth and comfort.
In the image, on the oak floor, we find the Tres rug model by Nani Marquina, designed by Elisa Padrón and Nani Marquina herself. Looking for sobriety, we chose to incorporate masculine and serene tones, and they were distributed in the living room through this carpet and a careful selection of cushions. The result, a comfortable and warm place.
We can also see two original pieces of graphic work by Chillida and Miró, chosen and proposed by ÁBATON, as ÁBATON collaborates with Art Galleries and artists, and curates works of art for the clients of the Interior Design and Decoration Projects.
Another interesting decorative textile accessory to bring color (and warmth) is the sofa plaid. Thanks to this element, you can make a round proposal of color and textures, being also an essential piece to keep warm when the temperature is insufficient.

Or we can opt for antique Berber wool rugs and geometric patterns and combine it with the sofa plaid.
Vases in Decoration
Vases are another essential piece when it comes to decorative accessories, and they also serve a dual function. On the one hand we use them to place flowers, plants and / or centerpieces, but on the other hand, we also use them to include counterpoint, color, texture, etc. to the area where it is located.
An example of the latter is the collection of vases designed by Benjamin Hubert for the Italian firm Bitossi. This collection, called Seams, is composed of five large ceramic pieces of different colors. The possibility of being able to combine them in different ways provides a great richness of color and contrasts.
Antique sculptures as decorative accessories
The primitive sculptures, besides being a cultural manifestation of the people who made them, are a very interesting contribution to our environment and our decoration.
For their correct display it is important to choose the direct environment in which they are located, so that the pieces dialogue with the other objects that are near them, or in the case of being isolated, have a good lighting.
For example, the couple guardian of dreams. It is an antique sculpture from the Indonesian island of Flores, approximately 80 years old, made of teak wood and emphasized by means of an iron base.
In the image above, we have several examples: several sculptures and an ancient carving. Some ancient Mentawai oars from Indonesia, some original primitive sculptures from Kalauna (Indonesia), a TAU head from the Toraja culture, from the area of Sulawesi Indonesia, and finally, an ancient vertical carving from Borneo. All of them provide an enriching contrast.
Decoration with mobile sculptures
Another trend in home décor accessories are the mobile sculptures we have in the Objects of Desire section. A tribute to Alexander Calder, they are abstract pieces that explore emptiness and movement with powerful and stimulating colors.
For example, the sculpture “mobile with two propellers”, a sculpture in balance, neon red-orange color designed by François Azambourg. As can be seen in the image, placed on the living room table it brings an interesting contrast in terms of shapes and verticality.
Decorative baskets
The centenary craftsmanship has been gradually recovering ground in our homes today denaturalized. Although its function is no longer the original primitive and has been adapted to contemporary needs and although its origin is distant, perhaps the natural character of the materials with which they are woven, the handmade braiding and organic dyes, get these baskets find their place with extraordinary ease and naturalness.
This centenary craftsmanship with organic or geometric shapes, sometimes surprise us with their designs and the essentiality of their forms. The natural texture turns the spaces into recognizable homes that transport us to moments of our more or less near past.
Some examples are the hand-braided African baskets, made with natural fabrics that take care of sustainability and local work.
We can also find antique paper mache baskets from the Rajasthan area. Made of papier-mâché, these are antique, light and resistant pieces.
