The pantheon
The pantheon was a challenge for the ÁBATON team as it was the first project of a spiritual nature. An intimate and personal work that demonstrates that architecture always tells a story, maintains a meaning and is part of people’s lives with a background that transcends materiality.
“This work was conceived as a place to remember moments of happiness and mitigate the pain of a loss, where to be able to meet the passage of time, in a calm and serene way.”
An olive tree, a tree with a very long life and beautiful aging, and a cypress, planted at the back, coinciding with the cross stamped in the concrete, symbolize the approach to the divine with the passing of life.
A place to remember
The certainty of the inevitable passage of time guided the conceptualization of the project. Thus, natural materials that beautify as they age were chosen: chestnut wood, concrete and granite.
A bench was created in front of the columbarium, inviting visitors to gather in an open space, connecting with nature and its symbolism.
“The design of the pantheon flees from artifice and tends to pure lines, inviting contemplation and reflection.”
The sensation of space
To create a piece that would be perceived as a coherent, harmonious and independent space, the foundation was set back from the volume to create the sensation that the pantheon floats and rises above the ground. The die-cut cross keeps the golden measure, or golden ratio, contributing to the harmony sought by the ensemble. This work is created as a personal space, offering a corner of intimacy for reflection and a home for memories.
